About Us

The Garden Club of Switzerland, founded in 1961, has been dedicated to furthering the beauty of homes, gardens and community. The objectives of the club are to promote an interest in horticulture, to stress conservation through the protection of wild flowers, birds, waters, and to emphasize garden therapy.

The members of the club, having diverse interests, contribute their time, energies and talents to extend gardening knowledge to others. Special projects include the propagation of plants, flower arranging, landscaping, butterfly gardening, and the environment. Throughout the years, hundreds of flowers, shrubs, and trees have been planted by our members to add beauty and to compensate for trees that have fallen from age, fire, or development.

The Garden Club of Switzerland is a member of the District IV Garden Clubs in northeast Florida.  The District IV clubs are in the counties of Baker, Union, Nassau, Duval, Clay, Putnam and St. Johns (where we are located).  Twelve Districts of garden clubs comprise the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs within the Deep South Region, all under the umbrella of the National Garden Clubs (see their network section for how the pieces fit).  See the Profile, Committees, and Network information in the right column of this page for an at-a-glance summary of our club.  As the community of Switzerland and the neighboring communities of Fruit Cove and St. Johns grow, the Garden Club of Switzerland acknowledges and accepts its responsibility to assist in keeping our community clean and beautiful!
